Initiative 3
Zero Single-Use Plastics
in the Cabin
A radical and determined rethink of the material used, the size and the number of units in F&B service equipment is called for.
It is imperative to move to ZER
plastics
onboard as quickly as possible.
Recyclable
content materials such as
Limex (limestone composite material)
are now available to create identical-looking dishes and cups that are cost neutral to existing plastic dishes.

INFINITELIVES is promoting limestone as the current best alternative to replace single-use plastics.

We remain committed to continuing to research new materials, in our ongoing quest for the ultimate environmental solution.

Our final destination is a fully compostable material that can tolerate high temperatures.

We are committed to completing that journey.

F&B Service Weight Reduction
Further weight reduction can be achieved by scrapping the economy tray and reducing the number of items on it - currently up to 11 pieces of plastic.

The alternate is using an elegant underplate and placing just two dishes on the underplate.

By reducing the weight of material (e.g. tray size reduction) and having fewer pieces on the tray, both airlines and the planet will benefit from the resulting cuts in fuel burn.

Imagine the impact of just a 250 gm weight loss on the basic economy tray set. Multiply that by 300 customer meals on 100,000 flights per month over 12 months and that’s 7.5 million kg , a valuable reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions.

INFINITELIVES offers a contemporary café dining concept. A simplified service featuring an oversized main meal on a stylish underplate.

This means a dramatic reduction in the number of items served to guests. Fewer items equate to less waste, less landfill, less environmental destruction and lower costs for airlines through reduced fuel burn.
